The company was formed by Tillingbourne, a rural independent based in West Surrey, taking over former Orpington & District operations between Orpington and Croydon. Metrobus enjoyed considerable success in acquiring London Transport and County Council tenders and has recently taken over the former Arriva operations based in Crawley together with First Group services in Orpington.
