South Yorkshire Transport covered the metropolitan county of the same name,
operations being centred on Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster. At one time, the
undertaking boasted some of the cheapest bus fares in the country - this came to
an end with the advent of deregulation in 1986. The undertaking is now part of
First Group, trading as Mainline.
