Dorking Classic Bus Running Day

Sunday 2nd September 2001

Realising that there hadn't been much by way of new content on Southbus for a while and abandoning plans for an ascent of Box Hill, I decided to visit the Dorking Classic Bus Running Day. Being to cheap to fork out for the £4 programme, I satisfied myself by photographing the collection of vehicles gathered outside Dorking Town Hall.

The event was organised by Country Bus Rallies.

Leyland Nationals are becoming increasingly rare making a photograph of SNB312 worthwhile. Not quite as good as catching one in the wild of course.
RF255 saw service with Metrobus as recently as 1995, although it is privately owned. The bus carries boards for the 746 service between Bromley and Tunbridge Wells while displaying blinds for route 412
RM9 displaying blinds for a special service between Clapham Common and Epsom Downs
RF626 waits before working a journey through the Surrey Hills.
